And dont forget about labor. Good labor is now harder to come by
ive got a branch manager grapple, empty I can move the dump trailer on level ground, the chipper is 8000 pounds, my mini will lift the jack off the ground and fall on its face as soon as I try backing up, and the tracks stall out going forwardBeing in line, especially when the shop has regular, big dollar customers, and waiting on parts, can take a while.
Significant self- sufficiency pays in a lot of ways.
Skilled pros, who can handle it it all, are worth their expense.
Consider renting a dump trailer or outfit your trailer with a chip box.
I have a chip truck, and small flatbed trailer with a 5 yard box on it.
I use both.
Moving my chipper and trailer to the tree with my mini, where I can't get my chip truck, saves lots of moving material to the chipper, sometimes making it a no drag/ forwarding job.
I want to make a lifting jib for tipping my chip box trailer. Currently, my mini and my neighbor's tractor can lift the trailer 45⁰. Easy to unload some in different spots on the customer's property or my own.
Tip, rake some, move, tip rake move.
I have lots of use for mulch at home.
My neighbor will unload chips for his use, at his place.
If I secure the sides of the trailer to the stake pockets, he will be able to lift the whole trailer up to empty it with his log loader. 1,2,3 ezpz.
I have friends wanting chips. I can drop off a loaded trailer to them, and they can return it to my shop or jib site after emptying.
What grapple to you have/ do you have a tow hitch for your mini?
yup, and these are the guys everyone in town including other hydraulic shops told me to go to!Top shelf service costs top shelf dollars.
Saving a few bucks while a major piece of equipment is down is not worth it.
Hope they have it ready, soon.
Tools don’t cost money, they make money.
yeah, I just dont have 3-5K cash laying around, or room for one, or a phase converter lolWell, if nothing else you learned that the tools to fix this are cheaper than the cost of hiring others. Those lathes are gonna start to look cheap soon enough.
lucky, id still need one or tap into the one on the lathe, gonna pick up a big mill and possibly a shaper when I have room and moneyMine has a phase converter built in.
