Usually I do all my fruit trees in March but I have been running out of time. All I found was something that said prune fruit trees in late winter after the danger of cold damage is over. My worry is that the bud that I cut back to will die. Instead of the fruit trees today, I will go back...
I can't seem to find anything on the web that says whether or not I should prune fruit trees in the snow. I like working in the snow, I just don't want to damage anyone's trees.
I know dormant season is OK but I can't imagine its good to trim them with snow on their branches. I was going to prune an apple, apricot and a peach tree tomorrow but now I think I should postpone them until the snow is out of them.
SNOW! Finally, we have snow on the ground with lots more coming down. Our ski resort might be able to open for Xmas.
It does put a wrinkle in my work plans because I have a bunch fruit tree trims.
One season of weather or two or even ten does not matter when you are talking long term cycles. We are talking long term averages. Every time some big weather event happens one group or another says it is proof of or against global warming. It would be impossible to prove. Theory of global...
The thing that a lot of folks get wrong about global warming or climate change is that an increase in the average temperature will mean different things to different areas. The Pacific Northwest will get wetter in the winter and drier and hotter in the summers according to the models. Some...
It was 50 degrees and sunny t-shirt weather here. We went for a hike and then headed to a park. It has been so warm here I think I am going to have to bump up my fruit tree jobs by a month. I think everything is going to bud too early here.
Partially cloudy and spring like today. Supposed to get frickin' cold later this week. I found a frozen squirrel draped over a branch in the tree I climbed today. Poor fuzzy.
Is it bad to have your block heater on all night? Should I get a timer? I didn't think it would be a big energy drain. I should say that the truck starts fine even on the coldest of days and has an exhaust switch that funnels the exhaust into the block to help it warm up.
I just put a block heater in my truck. Hopefully, it will improve my winter time mileage. I have been warming my truck for 15 minutes everyday. On the cold days I start it 10 minutes before the end of my job too.
