Square peg, round world.
Thanks Al, found one that looks like it will work.
Well Brendon... that is a biased website as far as I can tell. No prices either.
It can be done, but they are making false claims to the 7.3L being unreliable... To each his own, but there is nothing wrong with 7.3L PSD's.

Getting a little defensive Sasquatch?
I have a CAT in my newest Ford.
Any company trying to promote a product will tell you why there's is better . There is prices.
It's just an idea, if the engine is available locally, and the time is there, it can be cheaper, but I understand your point.
Indestructible.
Sorry to hear the bad news John.
nah....I can break anything

Mopar didn't make the engine brother, they just wrapped the diamond with turds.
No reason to get defensive about the Cummins because you don't like Mopars, which really have nothing to do with trucks, btw. The Cummins is a million mile motor. The 24valvers do loose injector pumps, but that's only because nobody ever checks their fuel pressure from the crap Carter lift pump. If properly supplied, the VP44 will last a very long time. In these parts, I've never heard of a Dodge truck retired because the Cummins had failed, was worn out, or wasn't worth fixing. I can't say that for the competition. I can expound further on the merits of the Cummins design, and it's initial engineering goals, but let's just say to each his own.
Should I really ride that Wraptor Paul just sent me that you had?
Heck yeah! Only reason I gotta a dodge is the power plant! They are "better" because mo power/easier to make power, 2 less cylinders, simpler, less electronics, cheaper, yada yada, blah blah......and they sound cool.
That does sound high, John. I had my 8.2 replaced in the blue bucket and it was under $9K including labor. Motor was about $6300 I think. Your mechanic thinks he has you over a barrel and thinks he can ram you twice on the motor (labor plus huge markup). You can get it towed to another shop for $150.
