What’s the purpose of the “wires” ?

I see lots of chippers with these 2 wires. What is their purpose and name?🤷‍♂️

Those would be the "Oh shit strings".....

You pull on them to reverse the feed wheel if you start getting pulled into the chute. Morbark just refers to them as "safety Cables" in the manual and on the sticker on mine.

I always heard them called last chance cables. But yeah, they pull he feed arm into reverse

By the time you're in a position to use them, your leg is already gone. IMO they are a visual reminder not to kick debris in with your foot.

I saw a movie TV or net, with this kind of set up in a big ass shredder for waste recycling. The heroine was knocked unconsious on the belt conveyor. Luckily, she wocke up and caught the very tip of the string at the last moment. What a relief !!!
