Whats blooming?

IMG_5216.jpeg IMG_5214.jpeg IMG_5215.jpeg Winter in the desert is funny. Trees have new green leaves on them while there are still yellow fall leaves hanging on.

I think the white ones are forget me nots. My grandmother grew them…along with violets, onions, cilantro, parsley…that I can remember.
 
Forget me nots are blue.
At least around here, they are.

She did grow those white ones, whatever they are…interesting smell.
 
One of my favorite visual memories is coming down that steep grade on interstate 8 from the San Diego side heading East toward Ocotillo. Right after a spring rain. The desert floor from that elevation was a carpet of color of blooms on the cacti. Vivid and amazing.

That’s where I am. Anza Borrego desert…you must have hit a super bloom.
