I assured him there would be a couple of limbs broken by throwing the pine that way, but he was fine with it so long as the bridge wasn't damaged. We used a throwline/rope to pull a couple of small hangers out so they wouldn't fall on someone later.

Working on telling a story through production, using various angles and shots: Here is my latest effort..

Fullscreen and HD make it best.

Really well done Nick. Unlike most cinematographers who try to shoot our line of work, you DO our line of work so you seem to have a much better idea of what is interesting to us. I really like some of the shots you captured in that short vid. Keep up the good work.

Are you shooting all of that, or do your friends shoot some? "Do it right or not at all." HA!!!!!!

I shoot most of it from a gorilla pod, I am the skinny guy so I think one shot in that I had another guy on the crew hold it. My biggest challenge is not impeding production.

Thanks for the kind words Jed!

now if you only had a decent sized skid steer on site you could sneak that thing out of the yard in two or three pieces and chip in the street.... you can also take a tree like that and lift it off the first cut, get it down and off the fence in one piece. especially helpful around shrubs etc..... Helps when they're tied off closer to the COG..

ps I've been on vacation again... got to do something for fun.... like kicking the TH hive... ;)

Thanks for the feedback Daniel! I appreciate you taking the taking the tiime to watch and comment. If it was up to me we would certainly have a machine, but not a skid steer.

Did you subscribe to my channel? I put out a bunch of videos while you were gone.

One back at ya Nick...
Do they let you do this at Davey???

Yesterday we were teasing our apprentice about using more than 2 cuts to make a face.

Hope he never watches this video!

Murph, while your on vacation, Bonner and I have been busy with work and vids... here's one back at you...

Butch, do you mean block up top right above the Porty on the base, where a falling block of wood can crush/ cut the tensioned line between the two?

When a samurai would commit suicide by slicing his belly, a very honorable thing, he was careful to have a second there that at the appropriate time, would remove his head with one clean stroke of the sword, hacking at the dying man was unacceptable and tarnished the event. Stig must follow the rules of Bushido.

Bushido or not, recutting a face on a "How to fell trees like a true pro" video half a dozen times sure tarnish the event in my eyes.

Daniel, it is not about whether I am better than you at making cuts, but that I don't make videos to show the world my prowess and then pull a total rookie maneuver, that would earn one of my apprentices a chewing out!

Christ almighty, maybe he had a bad day or something? I don't see the point of the video as wanting to emphasize the purity of his face cut there.

Sorry, Jay.
I forgot I promised myself to ignore the antics of Murphy completely.

I'll be sure to do that henceforth.
