Looks to be way to time consuming and ineffective to me.

There are no shortcuts... Practice, Practice, Practice, Practice, Practice....

My bad, another bad link? Huh... I am on iPad, I will figure out, thanks Magnus.

Topsaw tool is great, I've used it since I started doing treework. I'm good friends with the inventor, so I've been able to help myself to his supply. He's got another version in the works, it's more compact and has some neat new features.

While working I threw the chain off the sprocket and hollered for a scrench, my guys looked at each other like, 'what the hell is is scrench', they threw me the topsaw and it worked just fine.

Compact as in shorter screwdriver/Allen head?
If you need to pull a cover to fix a pull cord = pure frustration. If they were longer the saw handle would be a non issue as the tool would be above. If not clear I'll post a picture of what I'm talking about.
Love the bar rail cleaner part!

Compact as in comes apart and fits back together in pieces. I'm pretty sure I know what you mean, I think the newer version will have different attachments that might work. The bar rail cleaner part is cool, it also doubles as a bottle opener.

I like the little top saw tool in a pinch. I keep one in my diddy bag and in the back pack with the sharpening tools. Can't tell you how many times I have had to pull it out because one of the screnches was misplaced or a quick chain tension adjustment in the tree. Rail bar cleaner is nice. I have used it to replace a pull cord on an FS250..
Think I will stick with my Granberg though for a sharpening guide. And Silvey of course ;)

I have the timberline sharpener, and it works OK. I can sharpen faster with a file, and they are alot less expensive. I tried to use just the Timberline for quite a while just to make sure I gave it a fair chance, but in the end I like a file better. Just my thoughts.

Just heard about this thing today. Seems like it'd be a good tool for a guy like myself. I'm no champ at sharpening saws. I can do the 200T no problem, but as the saws get bigger, the quality of my work declines. Part of it is that my back gets sore hunching over the saw for so long. I wonder if this thing could equal less hunching?

I think it's time to let that thing take a tour around the USA!!!

How can you be in the tree business and not know how to sharpen saws? That's like a butcher that cant sharpen his knife.

It's not that I don't know how. I'm just not good at it.

Honestly, if you timed how much time I've spent running a chainsaw in the past three months, it's probably been about 10 minutes.

I've sharpened a saw maybe once this year. How good do I need to be?

I was butcher, learned how to sharpen a knife.
I was logger, learned how to sharpen a chain too.

It is not that different really. Takes interest, practice and knowledge, like anything else you need to learn.
Fun thing with sharpening it can always be better!

I just got a new Topsaw multi tool as a gift from my 4 timbersport helpers, should be a handy setup to sit on the dash of the pickup. Only problem is the 19mm spark plug socket won't fit the 16mm plugs on the new Husqvarnas.
According to the info on the box the companies name is Chestnut Tools, Almonte, Canada.

BTW if you're wondering why I'm wearing a pink jersey in the pic with my helpers............ all us festival directors had to wear pink for breast cancer awareness.
:)
