Good stuff you welders, couldn’t prêtend to understand a lot of it all of course.
As a kind of derail I’ll give you the latest on my chipper.
A series of phone calls, “I’ll call you back/let me speak to my manager” etc. I was preparing myself for an abandonment then I chased the guy yesterday afternoon and he told me the manager was going to send me, free of charge..
A new spout
New piece to weld the vertical anvil onto.
New vertical and main anvil (and bolts)
New blades.
New bottom roller.
New rotor/pillow bearings.
I was preparing myself for a tirade and a disappointment instead I got more than I was after.
I regret buying the machine, and will sell it once it’s up and running but feel I’ve turned a corner.
I think it was a triumph for soft pressure, plenty of photos and text, no threats or ultimatums, “here’s the problem, here’s what I think you should do, can you do that?”
Reasonably chuffed.
