The RIP Thread...

Lost Zelda the goat and a duck yesterday.. Probably a rattle snake taking advantage of the water trough. Got up to the dump site and the Doc that rescues wolf hounds seems to have lost one. Felt bad for the dude, but he also screwed me for some money... Weird wanting to console someone that is visibly upset and be angry with them at the same time.

Pretty common this time of year. Looks like the goat got hit on the nose, the duck is an assumption. And seeing I have no other sick or dead goats or ducks.... LOL

David Alan MacLeod,

David was a unique person. He was a fantastic photographer, and his eye for people and character could well have led him to a life of photography for the likes of the National Geographic.
He did not head to college after high school like so many of us.
He learned to climb at the hands of the old-timers at Winterthur Gardens here in Delaware, learning the ways of hemp/manila rope and Fanno hand saws and homemade saddles and lanyards.

Schooled in natural fiber ropes and hand saws, and natural crotch rigging, David was slow to pick up any newer techniques, preferring the basics, and excelling at what he did.
His strength and fluid climbing were compared to swimming through the trees. It was not unusual for him to free climb into a tree with his rope dangling from his harness.

He was suffering from advanced Lyme Disease and had trouble walking. About a year ago despite needing crutches to get there he flew the crane on a removal.
The sparkle in his eyes and the smile on his face as he wrecked that tree pick by pick, moving mostly by upper body strength was a swan song, a bittersweet homage to the love he always had for trees.

He had his demons and a friend said he had fallen off the wagon recently. This past Friday night he died in a single car accident on a rural road in the area where he knew every tree and every turn in every road.

Peace and rest, David.
