The Official Work Pictures Thread

Thanks, Carl @lumberjack . That is MOST impressive.

Was it at all a challenge to get the machine into position there? Fair amount of both uphill and side slope to contend with, and the surface did not seem to be all that firm, from the pics and vid.

Driving there wasn't a big problem, we did use the blade on the excavator to knock some dirt into a depression to average out the slope a bit. The machine has ~7* of leveling each way side to side. We were approaching the limits of the tractive effort with the slope and sandy soil (higher rolling resistance).

We need to make rack(s) for moving the dunnage more easily around the job site. That setup was "ok" but off from perfect. On reflection, I should have blocked up the rear tires so I could step the back end up even more, which would have let me raise the front a bit more, and get the overall setup more ideal.

Not a factor on the setup in terms of capacity, but my tree side outriggers weren't out all the way because of the hill. The machine calculates stability based on whatever length they're in, but I couldn't get my right side out any farther with the left rear on the cribbing tower. Supporting the tires (blocking up the rear tires) on cribbing so we could build higher would have helped with that also, which would have gotten the pads on the uphill side level.

Every day you spend with it increases your experience; soon enough you'll know how to optimize the setup and as a consequence, the machine.

Yep, next Sunday is when the second payment is due, we've put ~150 hours on it. We need to figure out a storage spot for the 36" outrigger pads and an easier way to move cribbing with the variety of machines we could have on a given site.

I misunderstood while we were setting up, we had more cribbing on the trailer but I didn't know. I'm placing an order for more cribbing cants once I figure out how much more 2.5" white oak I need for the trailer decking upgrade. We now have 180' 4x8' plastic ground mats, might as well have a pile of cribbing as well.

Fun facts:
Max outrigger load is 44klb, 167psi on the steel foot.
Machine came with 2"x24" square outrigger pads. 76psi
We added 2"x36" square outrigger pads 34psi
Our dunnage is 3.5"x6"x42", 7 pieces makes a 42" square. 25psi
