Yes, happy birthday!
My hamstrings, calves and ankles are giving me a fit, schlepping around the foreground...my boots are a bit too big which doesn't help.
There are days when I'm finished work, drive home and get out of the truck and say, 'whew, gravity is strong today'
Yeah, it's the drive home and getting out of the truck at the end of the day that shows the wear.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. Taking the kids out to do their Valentine's days breakfast at the senior center for 4h, then off to shoot trap at our teams 3rd shoot.
Little last minute project we jumped into. Taken a lot of trees down on this place and had more storm throw in the last couple storms. HO worried about a Black oak I pruned some years ago and some head leaners. One oak was in decline by the wood shed and the new shop. SO we kilt em. Black oak made me sad. But check cashed. Just Rob and I, like old times.
We used a guy line set up on the head leaners to rotate them to the road 90 out of favor and into the lay. Swing and lower using the mini to pull. Keep them from smacking the roof.
Going to mill some of the black oak and a live oak for the HO.
New saddle was comfy.....
Fodder
In progress Gary. HO does not live on property and the previous owners let it go. HO is doing the brush, we handle the tough trees. Has a ways to go to get the 100 feet needed. Spaced out trees ok, brush is not.
It's got a good bite for It's size. Seen Rob pinch the face of the butt and top of the log and it grab on pine. Not like it would be hard to put a tad bigger cylinder on it. But it'll do as is and take less welding to fix.
Stephen's pics are the closest I've been to Yosemite in 6 years. Love it when people post up pics...I mean, you are such the conversationalists and all, but...
This is from Day #2. Day #1 was about 12 hours, working till dark taking down the canopy & chipping this massive Missouri bur oak. We did it like the "Future of Tree Work" -- tandem machines, grapple on the top side grabbing logs, bucket truck down below with the sawyer cutting. Day #2 was dropping the spar, bucking it to usable pieces, and delivering 3 loads to a local who wanted the wood for firewood. (We didn't offer to loan the 880 to him; hopefully he's got a good saw!)
