The Official Work Pictures Thread

Ant filled sassafras, getting worse since I looked at it last year. Monday I tied into the higher poplar to limb the sassafras out, it was over hanging the pool and playset, used pole saw, I haven't recovered yet, so I opted to rig it off the poplar and lower it down. Took a hail Mary and hoped I would have some good hinge wood, I did. Solo job. Dropped 3 other small but tall dead ash.

Glad my splices and welds held up! HO wasn't worried about taking out other good healthy trees, but since the area is on the edge of a forested area, I opted to save the good without damage, in case it could come back on me.

Mick, your grapple looks like non-power rotating, do you like it or do you think power rotate is important?

really rocking it Mick. I wish you were here and I could show you how much less stress you can put on yourself by using an SRT hybrid.
Still, standing on spurs with a big saw on the spar is no fun. You can just take a break now and then by cinching off on the spar and sitting in the harness in between sets.

FWIW, I think the horizontal boom part of the grapple is probably too long, and could be shortened, possibly. More lift capacity. I like to be able to cradle a larger log against the heel plate for stability.

Holy crap!!!

Have any of you ever seen one of these? It was on FB, lordy! I've never seen a boom elevator before!

I like it!!!

Squish could answer that better than me, an operator with a couple of days experience can use it happily without rotate.

It would be handy, but I took a lot of advice, from some experienced tree guys, mostly from here, telling me not to bother.

I think they were right.

I was actually taking steps like that yesterday, whilst I was waiting for the guys I was fliplining high and hugging it koala style, relieved the pressure a bit.

Good to hear.

Got the timber lorry in today for the wood.

In fairness to the tight bastard, getting the butts out of the garden between two very old stone pillars and onto the truck took some skill.
