The Official Work Pictures Thread

O.k. Here's the pic of the falls today...

Here's what my back yard looked like when I got home...

And here is a short pictorial account of THE craziest thing that has ever happened to me at work...

Andy and I were sent to Boeing Eastgate to get a small Fir down with laminated root rot. When we got out there, it was easy to spot based on it's exact placement on a map that we had. I asked the guard if he could unlock a gated fence so that I could get my climb gear up to the tree. He said, "Shure... give me ten minutes." Andy and I packed my gear over to the fence while we were waiting and then proceeded to WATCH THE WIND BLOW THAT PIG RIGHT DOWN ONTO THE FENCE!!!...

Then we go out to do a bunch of little, building clearance stuff around the Boeing property. Pretty soon my Boss drives up, "Jed, turn your phone up, man, I've been trying to get ahold of you all morning..." Turns out the same wind blew a ton of Firs down on the other side of the property. A "ton," turned out to be three little doghair, but one of about 135' needed a climb....

Wild,Jed! Would you have been tied into that tree, or another?

I used zip-ties the other day for the first time on the cottonwood project for (horizontal) tops potentially splitting. Why did I never do it before?:hammer:

Oh, yeah... I had an over-head tie from another tree on that one for sure, Sean. The wind blew all night. I'm pretty sure we're headed out into more carnage today. How's the Cottonpig?

Carl: How in the world did you do those super long pans for the vid. That vid was pretty sweet.

When the camera was rotating around the tree I was using a feature on the drone's controller to revolve at a given speed and radius around a point. For short durations I can fly that by hand.

I don't like throwing a tree like that so close/parallel to a structure.

Me either, but it was the cheapest/easiest way to get the tree down in this case with buildings on three sides and the bluff across the open side.

Doesn't make it less risky.
Had you made a deal with the client, about a low price and he accepted the risk?

We had a fun one today.
The massive snowfall a while ago broke 2 out of 3 leaders off this beech.
One of those damage control companies tried to saw it off the roof, untill it rolled on them and they realized they were in over their heads.
No crane access whatsoever.
So a GRCS and a Tirfor, both with 2.1 setups did the job.
Pretty hefty chunk of wood, I'm amazed the damage wasn't greater.

Nice work Stig. Serious wood raising man. Bet you impressed the apprentice.

Nice gig scott. Got an email from Merced college saying they went with some one else. Oh well......

We are so booked up, it matters not. Just freed up two days in March forme. I know a client or two will be happy about it
