That’s funny I was going to say the exact same thing as Cory, and for the exact same reason. Thanks Gerry.

John: No way. I’m an old man and an absolute minimalist climber. I always just drop down my climb line, and have the boys tie the axe and wedge carabiner on there. I just drill holes through the tips of three wedges then just thread a carabiner through there.

I drive by a little cherry tree on the way to work that is 2" from laying on the ground. I think it touches on a rainy day. It couldn't be propped up much because the canopy has already adapted.

As i understood it, he was trained thoroughly enough to terminate his climbing line with a half-hitch (or similarly inappropriate method, probably thinking he had an anchor bend or buntline or other appropriate termination knot), and fall 50'.

Maybe @Jed has more accurate info.

No, it's a aggressive understory invasive. Chokes out forest regen, nasty impenetrable thickets

I was admiring the ash stump sprout today from the tree I removed a couple years ago. If the bugs would leave it alone, it could turn into a nice tree.
