The Official Work Pictures Thread

Had 2 cedars to remove after work. Had to leave a high stump on one so I went up and did some cinching. Still having trouble loving the nitrile gloves.

If they don't suit you, then use something else. It isn't really rocket surgery...I love them, but that's just me, Ryan.

If you want to wrap your hands in 3 layers of duct tape to remove any sensory inputs, or stick them bare in a sand blast box for a few minutes to increase sensory inputs to the extreme (set aside the bother of lots of blood creating a slick grip environment :D); it's your call.

We all make these decisions based on personal preference. No way should any of us say another of us is either right or wrong.

I know Burn, it's my choice, nobody held a gun to my head and said wear nitrile gloves. They were great for grip but got into the hitch again. Be easier for me to wear leather gloves than learn to operate my hitch with just my thumb and fingertips.
This place is my school so I have to a least consider any advice that's given.

After reading a few other threads I gather making and posting videos might indicate vanity, need for attention or a plethora of other personal flaws. If guys with crazy skill in Big trees are getting ragged on I must seem pretty pathetic with these p.o.s. prairie treejobs I feel compelled to share. Good thing I'm already over it.😁

Ryan, you just described Daniel Murphy to a T.
If some of us are turned off youtube heroes, it is mainly because of him.
You'll find the same thing happening at all the other arborist forums.

If guys with crazy skill in Big trees are getting ragged on ...

Re the other thread, I don't think anyone was ragging on skilled tree guys or any tree guys. I was noting that some tree guys with large YouTube followings seem to get full of themselves .

So there are two types of rubber gloves, one type the cloth is dipped and the rubber is almost in the cloth. Another type it is like a separate layer over the cloth. The latter type will get sucked into a hitch like no other. The good news is those seem to be the more expensive type. Dont buy them at home depot those are all the second type. You shouldn't pay more than 2 dollars a pair for your gloves. I ordered 500 for $300. Great purchase straight from. China. I love putting on a fresh pair before a big job. In the winter liners make them warm and they stretch over liners. When it really gets cold I stash a hot pack in the back

Leather gloves are fine for running rope, but for climbing you want that tackiness. It helps with fatigue so much bejng able to get good purchase on the rope.

I just figure it's because they have monetized their YouTube channel, and so that becomes a source of income, so it's something else entirely. You will be hard pressed to find a pipefitter channel, or ironworker, or just about any other trade. I think it's because after the "new" wears off on any job, be it assembly of parts in a factory or being a porn star, it all becomes work, and honestly isn't that interesting. The effort to try to make it constantly fresh has to be incredible, not to mention the hours editing, charging cameras, e.t.c. So if running a business and likely doing at least some of the work isn't hard enough, adding all of that filming stuff, and then the expectation of viewers to have new content every few days.... hell I'm tired just listing it all

Agreed! But I sense a pipe fitter channel in the offing! ;)

I bet I could watch one, anyway, no problemo. And the part at the end where the yelling starts and camera gets rocked all over the place cuz on site filming, that would be cool. ;)

For some, tree work is different. I enjoy climbing and working with trees as much now as I did when I first started.

True, because welders are the biggest primo a donnas on the planet, who are God's gift to the trades, women, and everything else on the world  The stuff you see on there is usually a quick picture when someone is usually fabbing on a bench, not a video of the mind numbing monotony that doing that 60 plus hours a week  Or the drudgery of doing that while up in a pipe rack, pit, or tank. How's this for porn, me several years ago laying in an acid wash tank used before a paint line. The weld looked like shit when i was done, the chrome was long since cooked out of the stainless by a 6 inch burner they use to heat it, rather than a tiny heat exchanger that would do the same thing for a fraction of the price. This is a quick make it last a bit longer deal, until it's completely gone and then we would go in and rebuild it all.

I still enjoy doing certain types of pipe work, very much so. But no matter how much you enjoy something, you can get burned out from time to time. Imagine if you had to do 4 months straight of 7 12s, working in the same 200 square foot area for 99 percent of the time. Or having to carry stuff way too heavy by hand over and over again because the foreman is an idiot. Or working in a sewage facility for a few months straight. No matter how hardcore you are, stints like that in a career can wear on you.

Not my problem. I work for myself, doing what I want, when I want and it's tree work. Every day is different because every tree is different.

This ^^ is one tiny example of why I think metal/welding is complicated AF. "Oooo damn, son, don't let the chrome get cooked outta that stainless, we'll be fooked." "Yeah yeah, no chit":|:

How'd they figure dat chit out?????

"Hmmm, this metal is brittle as chit, WTF"

'Ya know, you gonna think I'm crazy but something tells me its cuz the chrome got cooked out of it.'

"Da f*ck?? Chrome?? Like on my bumper?"

"Yeah. My gut tells me there used ta be some chrome content in this here metal, maybe 8 percentish I'd guess, and it's done gone now and I bet its from excessive heat application"

"Why'd they put chrome in there anyway?"

"Um, to help the grain structure??"

"WTF?"

"Yeah, I know. Chit is complicated, mang."

"Yeah, no f'g chit. Imma stick to trees"

:headbang:

Yowsa...Corey...if you made that chit up you are in the wrong profession!! Hilarious.

And I totally believe that's how chit gets figured out.
