Awesome camo and colors

Some facebook “expert” told my wife it’s an oak leaf butterfly, actually it’s a Question Mark butterfly. I should have asked where she got her info before I posted.

I didn't take pics cause everyone knows what a possum looks like, but they're remarkably unconcerned with humans. I heard crunching in the leaves outside, and got up with my flashlight to see what it was. Open the door, shine my light, and a possum is poking around in the leaves looking for stuff. Wasn't more than 6' away, and it didn't care a bit I was standing right there lighting him up. I watched for about 30 seconds and went back in. He poked around a bit longer and wandered off. Weird creatures.

I've been noticing the water bowl I put out for Spot has been emptying faster. With the drought we're having, water's more scarce, and I think it's getting visited by more animals. I've for sure seen squirrels and birds drinking there. Probably the possum too. Been awhile since I've seen the asshole fox, and I never did get Spot's stainless bowl back. Just the shitty double plastic bowl.

Possums will go for the water.

Regarding the water bowl. I just watched a squirrel slowly make it's way towards the bowl. Hop, hop, hop; stand up to see if it's clear. Do that three more times, then "Holy Shit! The cat's over there eating!", and it bolts. Spot takes notice of it, stops eating and goes over to the water bowl for a drink. Seemed like she was asserting dominance and ownership over the water :^D

There's a whole different world going on out there, with a bunch of little dramas happening all the time. Pretty interesting if you stop to really look.

Cool story in the article the OP wrote about this encounter

Nature is Metal.
btw I never understood that saying. Ya mean like heavy metal? Um yeah? huh? Does metal have some meaning I'm not aware of outside of the metallurgical sense? Do tell.

Metal like heavy metal. Spikes and screams and shite.

Metal music is hard, fast, loud and violent, like the ending of life on the fangs of a lion.

Metallic items are inherently hard and tough, lending perfectly to proverbs and colloquialisims, often used to describe personality traits, "he's hard as iron" or "he has a heart of gold" "silver tongued" and "tough as nails"

Nature is Metal.
