Branded gas in general is almost a thing of the past. I think most people go to generic convenience stores now. Brand names are around, but not like they used to be. The best of my memory...

Amoco
Arco
Citgo
Crown
Chevron
Exxon
BP
Hess
Shell
Sunoco
Phillip 66
Mobil

Feel like I'm missing one from TX, but the names eluding me.

edit:
Gulf!

My friends down the road had Esso Tiger bikes. They were like a Sting Ray. Remember put a tiger in your tank? Got to be old.
Yup, a Stingray.
Seems all the bike mfgs made them about that time. My excitement seeing it by the Christmas tree, then riding it in our cul-de-sac that day was a highlight of a young boys memories.
Later, it was redone by me as a BMX bike (tad heavy) to jump neighbor kids laying on the side walk with.
I got a better frame and built another plus my 10 speed schwin took over a more important money making duty of paper route on 8 plus percent grades in the hills of Woodland Hills.
My sister decided to make it her project but wanted a silver bike. With the thought that she needed no permission to paint it; she went out to the back garage, took the silver paint I had, and proceeded to spray it into her face. Came crying into the house (it had to burn) looking like the tin man of OZ. Hard to console someone trying not to bust a gut.

Stingrays were cool bikes but different than Choppers. Now that I see pics of Choppers, they look kinda over the top heinous:lol:. I'd forgotten they had a automobile-looking gear shifter

Your bike aint no Chopper but it'll do  :dude:

My friend that grew up down the road built his own chopper. 26 inch bike. Somehow extended the front forks using some forks from another bike. Put a 20 inch rim on there.. He always showed aptitude for metal work. Ended up being a union tin knocker. Retired now and still doing metal projects. Bought a trailer and hacked it up. Put it back together stronger and shorter. We still hang out now and then.

It came back to me. He cut the forks off the other bike. Cut the mounting flange off the bottom of the bottom of his. Pounded them over the top. Not sure if he clamped or bolted them. Have to ask him.
