This video popped up on Facebook on one of the Axe pages I follow. I thought the video clip was pretty cool enough to share.

Anyone else heard of this guy? Or got a copy of the DVD?

I watched the documentary a few years ago. He lived a good life up there for many years. Anybody that hasn’t seen it is really missing out.

The few clips I have seen on YouTube are really good.

I would love to see the full documentary. Searching for it now.

Probabley the first YouTube blogger, 50 years before YouTube.

Impressive stuff. To film and document the journey all alone.

I know he isnt the first and certainly not the last to go off grid. But I do enjoy watching the craftsmanship of the old timers.

I watched that on PBS when I lived up there.

There is another guy doing the same kind of thing, he married a native woman and they live from trapping I think.

Can't remember what that guy's name is but I think Vice did a docco on him so he wont be too hard to find.

That would be mighty kind if it isn’t too much trouble.

Or if you are computer savvy could it be uploaded to YouTube or similar.

Either way I would love to see it. I think I will try and get a hold of the book for a Chrimbo read.

Proenekke's book and video are fascinating. Heimo Korth is just as fascinating, maybe even more so. The book about Heimo was written by his nephew and is called "The Final Frontiersman". He was also highlighted in the Discovery Channel series The Last Alaskans.

total bummer- I just searched for it and there it is gone.

I think I gave it away in the past year.

Dang it, sorry

Yeah cheers. Woulda been a cheap thrill
