Subsistence thread

Yep, huge crops this year.

Pear and apple picking this afternoon.

We picked 25# of pears from my gf's backyard tree before the first frost, 2 nights ago. Ripe and delicious!

We even got some good apples this year. Guess all the snow hit just right.
Katy made some apple sauce. We were slated for pies too, but the damn oven went kaput.

Fantastic run of sockeye salmon this year. We caught 144 in less than 24 hrs. Lotta work. One net got caught up in a sunken root wad which was a bit of a nuisance. Got it untangled and then towed the beast out to the deeper channel and dumped it.

Spent the night in a friend's cabin.

Now I'm knee deep canning and smoking fish.

These are the smoked bellies, a delicacy. I will vacuum seal and freeze most of these to take out on trips or other outings. Everyone likes them.

These are the collars and are kinda fun to share. I'll bring them into work tomorrow and they will disappear quickly. Lots of cracked pepper on everything.

Rain killed them.
Along with the hay.
We'll have to buy feed for the horses this year.
On a positive note; the 140000 trees , we planted, are loving the wet spring.
Growing like crazy.
