This just in..... 10.5" long, 4.75" wide at the edge, and 1 1/16" lift.
I bought them from a Co. called Harry J. Epstien lots of cool new old stock tools.

That's a pretty steep wedge...I would prefer less lift for that length, myself. But I would only pull out my razors if I had to drive open a closed up kerf with serious loading on it, so more MA is best for that scenario.

I'm with Stig regarding hardheads...certainly.

Hit it straight and square, and wear your eye protection. All will be well.

Not always. My boss at Timberland Tree Experts in New Jersey (my second job as a tree guy back in the early '80's) was missing a front tooth due to a steel wedge.

Just kidding...for sure a flying chip or splinter can happen.

But I doubt many at all have been hurt by those, IF they kept proper maintenance against mushrooming, and were accurate on their strikes.

A felling wedge is one thing not to be confused with a splitting wedge .On the later I've had them kick back and smack me in the knee or shin bone .I've hit them with a chainsaw too .Cleans the cutters right off ,several of them .
