Splicing instructions?

Are they all basically the same?
I mean if a guy were to splice say Yale DB with Samson's instructions for BD would that be OK and acceptable? Or is it really important to follow the manufacturers instructions to a T?
 
There are subtleties, yes. But you can create full strength splices on New England ropes with Sampson splices.

Know what you're doing and don't f it up. That's the most important part.
 
Only because I love Yale rope so much. It seems sacrilege to use another manufacturers directions for Yale rope. Notice above I said you can swap New England and Sampson!? ;)

I must admit, no rope company has better splicing literature than Sampson.
 
I like the New England rope double braid splice instructions, bury the core first then the cover, seems to make things neater while working.
