Does Samantha’s instructions have some of the core in the eye?

No

I found the best way to do this splice whilst following Samantha's instructions is to mark not just the rope but also the table/bench, it makes it easier to keep track of what you're doing.

I’ve done a few of the Cousins splices, nice thing about this splice is how easy it buries, and easy to pull back out if the tapers of the cover and core aren’t right.
