Yeah, I have cut into it a couple different times to try something different. Just dislike feeding it over and over but I have been using it some
 
I need to reredesign Where I feed the wood, the upright hoppers have good potential as a self feeding sort of thing to some extent. Really only good if your puttering around the shop and can drop in sticks without too much hassle.

ive seen pics of a rocket stove built more like a conventional wood stove as far as loading wood and burn times goes. that's why im trying out the feed hopper idea. it seems to work pretty well so far. i did one test where i loaded it full of scraps and sawdust from my wood splitting area, it burned for more than an hour, and had no problems with the stuff that was still green/wet.

if you skip to 3:20 on this vid you can see a time lapse i did of the feed hopper in action. its around 20 min of burn with no intervention from me to feed it.

the artist is DJ Shadow, i cant recall the name of the song off the top of my head, but all his stuff is pretty cool.
