Regarding Covid

I would, and do, wear a KN95 or n95. A clean-shaven face makes a huge difference in proper masks fitting, IME.

Agreed that leaky department store/ discount store masks are as trustworthy as department store climbing gear and other PPE.

Dahlia's mom decided a sleepover, unmasked, sleeping in a blanket-fort with another unvaccinated child would be a good idea last week. I wore a kn95 until she tested negative twice, day 3 and day 5, because guess what, the other kid was symptomatically sick and tested positive 2 days later.

I don't want it, and need to be healthy to take care of her, if she gets sick.

Were I not double-vaccinated and boosted, I'd have given it more time. Fully vaccinated means very unlikely to get severely sick or have Long-covid.

Different strokes for different folks.

Different strokes for different folks.

That is certainly true.

If the experiences my kids and all there friends have been going through, they have had worse colds.

I don’t believe vaccinated or unvaccinated makes any difference to whether it spread or not.

Sorry to say this Sean, but you sound like you have listened to the authorities a bit much. Maybe in the earlier days, caution was warranted but it is showing that now, although infection rates are up, hospital visits are down as are deaths.

Do you have any serious health implications ?

Either way, you do what you need to do. 👍

Just got somne interesting numbers this week.
We have 80% of the population vaccinated.
Of those Covid sufferers that end up in ICU 50% are unvaccinated.
Those on ventilators are almost all men, 50+years of age and unvaccinated.

As I said somewhere, the vaccine is just an information given to the body, nothing more (positive view of things). Then, the body makes what he want of it, or what he can. Most of the time he does well. But too few or too much reaction to the invader, or not in time, and he's in big trouble, even dead.
Vaccine doesn't mean protection, not at all. Only the army/police in our body does the deal.

My brother in law got his three shots,. He's at risk because he has a cancer and a immunosupressive treatment. An help to prepare the christmass dinner brought the virus with her. Now my BIL is in the hospital (not ICU though) with a pulmonary embolism, his wife and son, covid positive.

Rich, please be at ease to speak your mind.

My gf has health issues, her girls do, and I spend most of my time with them at their house. My daughter is unvaccinated (working on it, hard).

My ex- is in a personal shit-storm and not making the best decisions, IMO.

Unvaccinated kids are at a higher risk of serious covid/ hospitalization, etc, than vaccinated kids and adults.

Our healthcare system is very broken. Hospitals are overloaded. ERs are full.

If we get hurt at work or a car wreck or home improvement accident, we're fOOOked, IMO.

A group of our friends, rather parents of Haakons friend. We have come to call them as friends. The mother works as a physio in the health service. Vaxxed and booster, husband the same. 2 kids both vexed. Grandma lives next door, elderly and otherwise very fit, she is vaxed and boosted (I think). The sister and BIL live next door, they are fully vexed and so are their two kids. The were exceptionally careful when around the grandma, all wearing masks and most of their family socialising outside.

They (at least time we spoke to them) were all but one had tested positive for COVID. All apart from the physio lady. Yet she has a worse cold than the rest of them and yet tests negative.

As I have said, it is a strange old virus.

Sean, I hope my post didn't come over as offensive, if it did then it wasn't my intention.

As I said, you need to do what is right in your mind to keep your family safe. With the circumstances you describe, then I can understand you not wanting to get a serious version of the virus.

I guess, in that way we are lucky. The health service isn't that stressed, so I hear. AND I don't have any close contacts with compromised immune systems.

Time will tell how this will all pan out I guess. Good luck.

Testing positive isn't much of a concern. Becoming sick is. My daughter's friend (so far) had two hours of headache and feeling lousy last week. Might be over it.

My daughter's school bus has three on a seat, which only are meant to hold 2 or 3, and don't enforce masking. 73 kids and staff so far this year at her school have been (+). My GF's daughter's elementary school, locally, in liberal Olympia, instead of the conservative mountain town where my ex- moved with my daughter, has about 1/3 more kids/ staff and just got their first 3 cases.

You were not at all offensive.

I'm a terrible mind-reader, and have a very thick skin. Everyone can feel free to call it like they see it with me. A lot better than people being "polite".

(way too thick of skin for Olympia. I'm not offended nor become reactive easily enough. haha)

Just about everyone knows (or knows about) sick unvaccinated people and sick vaccinated people / healthy unvaccinated people and healthy vaccinated people / dead unvaccinated people and dead vaccinated people.

Despite the scare tactic that the vaccine will render your natural immunity ineffective, and open you up for infection from every new variant and even viruses in general (re a WhatsApp many times forwarded message that is bs), I know many vaccinated people who somehow seem to be able to proceed through life without coming down with every variant of Covid, or indeed are not sick every week or month, that would include me...I also know of unvaccinated people who have had Covid twice, and still get colds or the flu.

Just be nice

"Vaccine" mandates are impeding the "getting on with life" part.
Legislating punative restrictions on folks unwilling to participate in a medical experiment ain't cricket.

The 'fuss' is about overwhelming the hospital systems, which is on the precipice of happening. 'They' are banking on the Omicron surge peaking this week or next, 'pushing through this final surge' one Premier said, love to have his crystal ball.
Add Covid as a highly infectious airborne disease on top of all the other hospital presentations...(yes a triple ellipse) Even if its 'just a flu' bloody hell that's a lot of flu.
