and down the leather and stitching of these WESCO's . I think this relationship can last ! (were you expecting some kinda porn) ... They were not cheap , but the quality is exceptional ...

I bought my first pair of WesCos in 1969. Cost was around $70. Half weeks pay back then. The company took $10 a week out of my paycheck to buffer the high cost.

The old WesCos were a good climbing boot back then and still are today. Although with the new composites I'm sure a lot better boot can be made.

I wear Wesco's as well. I've had a pair of Whites, Danners, Carolinas, and a few others not even worth mentioning. My current Wesco's are the better than anything else I've ever worn.

I wear custom fit Wescos for both logging and climbing, and I cannot praise them enough. Well worth the cost.

I inquired about a pair, unfortunately there is no dealer around here. You can measure your own foot and send them the measurements but I don't trust them coming out feeling good as my feet are total opposites.

I took my own measurements for a custom fit pair, and it turned out great. I highly recommend it ESPECIALLY if you have differented sized/shaped feet.

You trace your feet out on paper for the custom fit. Choose high top, or low, choose extra slip in the arch and type of sole. There may be more options but you would have to ask.

I sorta figured that, but everyone traces their feet differently. I would want the cobbler dude doing the tracing.

The thing with me is the toes on my smushed foot. I need extra room to accomodate them. It's caused me to go up one size, which sucks cuz my foot kinda slips around.

I need 13 (for the extra toeroom)for my left foot, 12 on the right. :whine:

Butch, you could always just cut off one of those toes. That would give more room for the other 4. ;)

It's odd you say that. My toes are the slowest part to recover from the accident, almost to the point to where I wished they were amputated. They really hurt (nerve damage) at times and mess with my sleep.

Here's the best description I can come up with. There are two types of recurrent pain: The "It feels like someone stomped my foot feeling" and the "Electric earthworms are crawling around under my skin" sensation. It really sucks when you're trying to sleep.

But WTH, things could be worse. :drink:

I've heard that amputees often get phantom pain or itching in the part they had amputated. I know a guy who lost his foot about 6-7 years ago and he had those phantom pains for several years. I saw him last week and he doesn't even limp any more.

must be the nerves regenerating.....sucks...Vitamen I cover the pain?

I know this sounds out there....ever consider acupuncture?

Hell, I'll do anything to make this weird shit go away. Lemme get the yellow pages...

How 'bout it, Ger? Are you feeling that?

There's one clinic here. I'll give them a holler tomorrow...

Butch, I've always had trouble getting boots that fit, because my feet are very narrow out at the toes, but normal further in.

I went to the Wesco factory some years ago, when I was travelling the west coast.
They do an outline of the feet and take about 7 measures over the foot and up the ancle. So not only the foot part of the boots but the shafts are made to fit.
Mine fit my feet like a well worn glove fits the hand.

Then you have a bunch of options as to what soles, or types of lining you want.
I have my caulk boots made with thinsulate lining, because we mostly log in winter. That would not be optional for your part of the world.

Wesco keep your data on file, so ordering a new pair of boots is easy. I just got me a new pair of caulk boots this summer.

Like I said, well worth the cost, especially for those of us with weird or mangled feet.

As for acupuncture, I did not believe in it even a little bit until 4 years ago.
I had a f..... up nerve in my right leg, which caused the muscles to spasm and seize up, so I'd fall over.
Not cool to fall on your butt like that, when teaching a karate class, or logging for that matter.
I tried a lot of different stuff, to no avail.
Finally gave acupuncture a shot, and the guy cured me with 2 treatments.
It was gone and have never returned.

Apparently it works well on most anything related to nerves, which phantom pain is.
Give it a try.

Butch - custom Wesco's would definitely be the way to go. But there are no Wesco dealers in Louisiana. If you wanted somebody else to do the measuring, you'd have to travel to get it done.
