In The News...

Must not be enough money in tree work to worry about. You dont have any rules or regulations you must follow?

I guess because for the time being, any old slob can pick up a chain saw and go to work.

Our rules and regs and very limited. The most regulated aspect of our biz, not surprisingly, is that of chemical application, loosely regulated by the department of Ag.

Your other categories of "capitalism".

You can go to town and buy a hamburger right? The hamburger being the most perfect of all known foods.

You can go to McDonald's and buy a "hamburger". Or you can go to a locally owned, all natural, locally sourced, grass fed, organic, hemp infused burger joint. Both are hamburgers, right?

They both get to be sold as "hamburgers", but they are not the same thing.

Depending on your agenda, the various definitions and forms of Capitalism can all be sold as "capitalism". Even though Free Market Capitalism and Chrony Capitialism are not even close to the same thing.

Same thing is done with Socialism. You have one definition that Stig and others like to use, working together to help your fellow man.

Or you have the definition that I like to use.....

We have different agendas.

They are not my definitions, they are THE definitions.

I see your point that terms like capitalism and socialism are quite broad and can be applied in many ways. The hamburger analogy to me represents a free market with healthy competition.

So your stance is that we do not live in a free market capitalist economy, what would you call our current system then?

Your agenda's a pure fictional fantasy Jim, much like Paul Ryan's.

To illustrate this, I ask you to give me an example of a time, a leader in American history that matches your ideal?

Do you even know why Wyatt Earp fought the Clantons in Tombstone?

I have read arborists that believe that a person should have a licence to own a chainsaw, and that tree work should be regulated to the point that only those recognized by the state should be allowed to work on trees.

Oh golly, Jomo. Thanks for stopping by.

To answer your question Levi, I think that Chrony Capitalism would be the most accurate "definition".

Basically as bad as you can get. Basically all the bad points of Stateism and Capitalism rolled into one, horrific system.

Sure, its great that there is McDonald's and Joe's Rainbow burger joint.

Trouble is that there are a lot of folks that cant afford to eat a Joe's Rainbow burger joint.

Is that Capitalism's fault or the fact that there is huge money and control in Poverty?

That would be a derail of a derail.

Yes, there are many in our industry who seek to further "legitimize" our trade. I strongly disagree with these folks who want to increase regulations. Many of them bitch and moan about being undercut by "hacks" in pickup trucks, personally I love the free for all that I work in. There are a few hoops I jumped through to be legit in the eyes of the municipalities I work in. Basic things like GL insurance. The part I'm not keen on but did anyways was the ISA certification. I think it's lame how a government institution can mandate that you be a part of a private organization like the ISA. Kind of like how we are required to have WC coverage yet there is only one business in the entire state from whom to purchase said insurance.

Not by me, just to make that clear, its the wild west as far as tree workers regulation goes here and in the UK. long may it continue.

I see opportunity everywhere. If someone wants the rainbow burger I believe they can get it no problem. It is far from impossible for one to improve their economic standing in life. Plus, we must consider the difference in cost as well as the associated health risks with buying the MacDonalds burger, not to mention the lack of nutrition in this burger. In the long run, the MacDonalds burger is more expensive. This is a trap to keep poor people in poverty yes, but folks are willing participants.

I was under the impression that things were heavily regulated in the UK, this is not so?

Give me an example of your ideal capitalist society at any time or any where in the world Jimbo?

Jomo

less if anything, though they are trying a periodic crackdown.

It's a very difficult industry to control, different jobsite most days, the dividing line between landscapers with a ladder and chainsaw and "legit" tree workers is blurry at best.

Because it was a bullshit answer to a bullshit question.

Boy, you really got one over on that small govt free market Capitalist yeah?

Has any example of free market capitalism succeeded or has it not been allowed to succeeded?

No where had I stated that we should be like "those guys" or we should emulate "that time".

I have said that small govt and less regulation should be tried.

I favor giving liberty a chance, and you would like to see everything controlled. No biggie.

Yet you can't give me a single example of the embodiment of your ideal agenda, at anytime or anywhere?

You seem to enjoy spouting rubbish without being able to back it up in the least.
