reading that article and links, I didn't realize those thugs can sting thru a regular bee suit, that is wild

Tarantula Hawk Wasp. Way more metal than lame hornets, bigger and more aggressive too, with arguable the most powerful and painful sting in the animal kingdom. I'd post a video, but I'm to lazy to find one.

In the above vid I believe it the asian giant hornet

One guy showed glue traps effectively catching hornets, though it's somewhat of an active maintenance thing at bee hive entrances.
