Crane accident 7/29/24 North Greenbush NY

This happened today (7/29/24) in the Albany area of NY. A&J Tree removal. According to some news reports an arborist was riding the ball and survived with no injury. Reportedly no injury to anyone. I pray these reports are accurate and everyone is Ok.

Giant crane removed from inside of North Greenbush home

Work crews in North Greenbush now have a giant crane removed from the inside of a house on Sandra Drive.

Bummer. Does everyone here check every job for where the septic is? Seems like that could be something that gets missed, especially with people more used to working in urban areas.

We always look for septic, since sewer systems are fairly rare on the mountain. We're always mindful of the ground and what's underneath it.

Yep, septic, leech fields, cisterns, drainage culverts, down spout drainage, water shut off valves, and how far we are away from basement walls, retaining walls, edge of driveways, and sidewalks. SOP

Yup, and even buried propane tanks or other randomness. Also how far away from basement walls, etc. And proper cribbing to spread the force more evenly over a larger area so the ground itself doesn't displace.
