Does anyone believe in the BBB?
They are always calling and soliciting me for membership...
They always say the'yve had inquiries about our busines...blah blah blah, yet they can't even pronounce the name of the county north of me, or they tell me some town near the bay area,
I get the feeling that for a membership fee, you get to use their logo on your ads like its some crown jewel, and thats it.
Any input.....so far i've declined because 3 of the worst hacks in my area have the BBB logo on their ads.

I was thinking TCIA accredation would be way more valuable.

what do you all think?

I was a member for a year and then they kind of annoyed me too much and I let it lapse.

I told them I would consider it and call back if I was interested. I got her name and extention.

It's rare (IMO) after talking to someone for 10 minutes or better, tell them you'll call back if you're interested, and them not call you back in a week or so.

BBB is a joke. TCIA accred would be cool.

Hey, did you get that redwood job?

BBB you are already a member of in one form or another and you don't need to pay them squat.
If you have a bad report, they call and make a rebuttal report that they give if anyone asks. If any one asks and you have no negative report.. they say so. There by your work is good if they say .. no complaint. Work is good if they have the reason behind the complaint.. F**K if I'll pay money for that... Waste of time. And I have owned businesses country wide:)

I thought it was b.s., i just see it in some ads and they keep calling...
I am actually thinking about reducing my ads in the yellow pgs this year, due to there's only 4 liscenced companys in the book with about 20 in there.

I'm thinking why pay them a bout 4 g each to be in with a bunch of scabs, times 3 books 12 grand for what....the word of mouth work has been way better, than those who shop around.

I haven't opened a phone book in almost 5 years. The last 3 years the phone books never came out of the bag, right into the garbage (they tell you to recycle them but then the recyclers reject them most of the time). Last week I got lucky and was home when the new book got delivered, I waved them on and didn't let them leave it. With the proliferation of cell phones and internet, phone books are a thing of the past.

Yellow pages shoppers are no longer a desirable market. If you want to run all over town bidding against 10 other guys on jobs well out of your work area for jobs you'll never get unless you underbid, get a YP ad. If you want to build a clientelle, do it one customer at a time with referrals.

Seriously.. no Yellow page here. 95 percent WOM and the rest cards or fliers mixed with a small NP ad... Small town.. WOM goes on and on... 3 years and 200 rotating clients later says it all.. 250 counting the one timers.. And I can count the NP clients on less than two hands ;)
