These pics are from 5 years ago when we had a good cold snap without any snowfall. Took Nala out the road to Thoms Lake for some ice fishing.

We didn't catch squat and I would have been better off bringing my ice skates. Ice was fine, but making a lot of creaking/groaning noise which tends to get you on edge. Nala was hesitant at first but got used to it.

I always thought ice sailing looked fun. If I had a reliable big patch of ice, I'd almost certainly build an ice boat.

not hard at all...wood is way tougher on chain

I helped build a 300' diameter ice carousel. 16-18" of ice lots of saw time 1800 some odd feet of cut (rough math) The saw I used ended up seizing the next spring. A beloved OE 372. I still have to get around to rebuilding it, maybe. They put a 25hp outboard in it and got it moving pretty fast and took something like 10-12 hours to fully stop spinning.

Poor pup! Maybe next time bring a scrap of plywood or a towel for her to sit on so she doesn't freeze her butt on the ice.

Speaking of freezing, I use the chainsaw's exhaust as a fingers heater while aloft.
