Went Steelhead fishing this morning. Was on the Cascade at 0700, 5 degrees, way cold. Couldn't last more than 10 minutes in the river gave up about a half hour inot it. Hands would not function too cold to fish. Should have worn neoprenes.

I was thinking of coming up that way to look for eagles to shoot.......

err, with da Canon, ya goons

wait, I'm da goon...

but I'll prolly go skiin'

Glad we didn't have to come up and break ya out of the ice with a sledge

Lots of eagles in Brackendale RB. just watch the slippery roads eh.

Devon, it started in ALASKA and came through western Canada.. We are just giving it back to our beloved neighbors :P

MISSED YOUSE GUYS!!!!

Without power since 9:30pm on the 11th. Got it back around 6:30 this evening.(16th) Sucks having no electric or water. Luckily we still have the woodstove from before we got the OWB. Generator is on my list, never will I go through this.

Thanks to all the states that have sent the hundreds of power crews. I've seen MD,VA,PA,NY,MI,OH,FL,CT,NC,TN,NJ and probably some others. They have activated guard units to help with clean-up. Some areas won't see power for 10-14 more days. Tops are broken out everywhere. Never seen such a thing in my life, hope not to again.

Good to see you back online, Newfie. Talk to Erik and see if you two can line up enough work to bring me up there for a couple weeks. I'll even bring you my generator.
:D

Nice to see you back Mike, get RJS up there, you might have to buy him a jacket tho, I have heard tell he doesnt own any.
:)

Some towns have been giving out of state tree guys a police escort out of the jurisdiction. There is a lot of concern about moving ALB out of the quarantine zone. Unfortunately,I'm still down with my knee. Not healing as well as I had hoped. I may be standing next to a chipper pretty soon though. Erik is flying a bucket right now for a guy he hooked up with locally doing storm work.

rbtree, doesn't a canon make a mess out of the eagle? I'd at least want a wing or something left over.

There are towns fairly close by that won't have power until probably after Christmas. I heard the power lines were at least 4" diameter from the ice. I hate to think what that is going to be like with no power.

if you go up there brian you need to know what the red line on the dash is. if you feel like the A/C is on full blast, dont turn it off, slide the little lever from the blue side to the red side;) an amazing sensation will take over!

SOTC, it takes a couple mins on the red side to warm up, especially this time of year, have patience RJS! oh, and the little electrical cord coming from under the hood, them arent hybrids, there is a thing called a 'heater' on the engine block to keep it from freezing, I am sure Erik will have a cup of tea ready for the tailgate safety meeting. :D

I used to own a Ranger that had a block heater. It was still unused when I sold the truck (with 145K miles) 4 years ago. Still had the little twisty-tie holding the cord all neat and tidy.

SOTC, I had a block heater in the F250 I traded off this spring, in the 4 or 5 years I had it, never used it. Not sure if the GMC I have now has one, Maybe I will go check tomorrow.

should plug mine in these days but my carports a mess and i dont wanna have to drag it across all that junk!

I had an F-250,1972 with a 390 .That thing was special ordered by the previous owner with two soft plug block heaters on each bank .The danged thing would throw heat about two minutes after you started it .:)

I got an email from TCI today, asking storm affected TCI companies if they needed help. apparantly a lot of folks have been contacting TCI , saying they want to work the storm.

Hooking up with a local firm is prolly best.

I am going to the pre-bid meeting for the ALB contract tomorrow. Invite only for companies to bid ( I was invited to observe the process). 33 million in govt. contracts, it should be pretty interesting:/:

add 20 mil for the ice storm clean up and Massachusetts is the place to be for tree guys!

I really really need to make a wood run, but I am watching the radar and the weather. We are supposed to have freezing drizzle tonight. But it sure is moving in fast!!!! I've made that trip loaded on sleet, ice doesn't sound like fun at all!!

snow from maine to calif and dakotas to texas all in about a week. wheres al gore to explain this:/:
