This morning Terri and I met up with Frans Smith, Greg Liu and Paul Bernai for a romp through the woods. I took them to a tree that I believe would be a good one to climb someday. First pic.

Then on the way out of the woods we stopped at the tallest tree for a look/see and found that someone had spread their loved ones ashes all over the base of it. Second pic

How about that.

Anyway we stopped in Willits to look at the Goose Ridge Tree and have some tentative plans to have a picnic at the top of it. Last pic

All in all it was a good tour through the trees. Rather hot inland today, up in the 90's, and 62 on the coast.

Hey, that looks like Frans's dog!

Cool pics Ger, as always!!!

Bob

The dog is Greg's and is named ZIP!

Most excellent, well behaved, friendly, dog.

I made fun today about Greg and Gerry taking so long to take pictures.
When I got home, most of my pictures were blurry.
my bad karma for making fun of them.

Had a great time, thanks Gerry & Terry & Greg.

Sure looking forward to climbing the Goose Ridge tree next!

Yeah, it's a cool tree, Willie.

Frans, you dork, a tripod is needed to take those crystal clear shots in the woods.

Oh, and tell Paul that we have his bi-nocs. He left them in the car.

Fun day with everyone.

I really like those tree treks, it reminds of the folks who make a point of going around to all the religious shrines, some even work their way through the whole country doing it, but the trees seem more hallow to me.

heres a couple including a strange cloud formation we spotted on the way back

That's Mike Rantala standing atop of the Goose Ridge tree in the Brook Trails subdivision near Willits. The photo was taken sometime during the mid 80's when we were doing a lot of climbing together.
