This year the treehouse conference will be in Washington state. It will feature presentations by experts on how, why, what materials to use, which structures are feasible, contracting issues, permitting, low-impact tree protection methods, retrofitting aging structures, and impacts of drilling into heathy wood, as well as many other relevant issues.
This discipline isn't well-categorized in this forum's index. Building treehouses is a big business, and several arborists specialize in helping to create unique outdoor living spaces for adventurous folks seeking solace in the woods.
