The RIP Thread...

I just read the obit for a former coworker. I think died in their sleep is sometimes used in place of "found face down on the kitchen floor clutching his chest", which is how he was really found.:(

Hasn't gone down yet, but my friend has some rare terminal cancer and is doing his best to hang on well enough the next couple weeks to make a showing at his last festival he will be promoting.

I helped build several of the buildings on the property, and have performed with several different bands on stage over the years. I even wrote a song about the cabin there on the property where we used to hang out picking music and such nearly every weekend for many years.

I thought so too.

George is currently at home and on sugar water or saline on alternating days as intravenous feeding is cost prohibitive and not covered by insurance.

Well, he made it through his festival (though bedridden in his trailer) and passed away peacefully last night at 8:30.

His wife asked me to perform a song I wrote on stage Sat. so I borrowed a guitar, enlisted one of the hired bands to back me up, and sang it.

I remember watching the TV when Ray Charles went ... at the ceremony it was Willie Nelson's job to play "Georgia" , was so sad he almost couldn't deliver but pulled it up.

I've often thought what songs I'd like played at my funeral. Although I'm not religious, Jim Reeves has some nice spirituals. Garth Brooks "Last Dance is a good tear jerker also.
