Well, this is technically a work picture...
Is that a cool tree, or what? Every time I go to this job, I stop to admire the tree. There's an interesting sycamore to the left also, but it isn't as nice as this oak. This is in an awful subdivision. The developer builds bottom end ugly cracker boxes, and this property shouldn't have been built on at all. Very wet. That field beyond the tree is where the septic reserve areas are. 1,000' from the building lots, and the ground is still very wet :rollseyes:

He was on about 6 hours ago... maybe just been busy lately? Winter is coming, i bet they are already kinda in it, and I'm sure getting ready for that is quite the task. @FireFighterZero, he would know for sure on the door insulation fire thing.

Rough, having to run an Alpine Magnum, with a mini-x right there. The fence wouldn't have liked ripping them out, eh?

We have not been informed that we have to change tactics at this time.
The fire service is a steady by jerks kind of outfit.
Currently, we approach a burning car from the sides. Full PPE including SCBA.
Advance your team behind a strong fog pattern if the heat is too great. Similar to an approach of LPG tank fire or natural gas fire.
Wash your gear when you get back.
As far as Hazmat goes....we are "awareness" level.
Always be aware of dead or dying cops at a hazmat scene. They are your canary in the mine.

We used to have a race at the local dirt track on New Years Day called the Hangover. I went a couple times but when cars wrecked and caught on fire they just let it go.
Too nasty for me. They did the race for years but the new owners put an end to it.

It couldn't get any purchase on the trunks and deep sinkers... we had the tracked rayco there too... I love that thing... til I hit a ball peen hammer and jacked half my teeth

Here is our little home away from home, that we bought last year.
It is really proving it's worth this fall.
It has been the wettest fall ever recorded.
Imagine fighting through all that underbrush in rain, day after day.
Having a dry, warm place to meet up in the morning and for lunch really makes a difference.
It is also nice to be able to change into some dry clothes for the 1½ hour long drive home.
My only regret about the lunchwagon is that we didn't buy one 15 years ago.
I had two trees today where I couldn't buck over half of them, bacause it got buried in the soft, muddy ground when they landed.
So any old stump that I can drop them on is a blessing.
That makes for some precision felling practice, too.

Makes good sense Stig. That dog sure knows how to avoid the puddles- mine would need a hose down after 10 mins.

This customer was worried about this 58" DBH Live oak near the front door of her house. She originally called for a removal but when she heard the price she opted for taking off some of the lower limbs. They're about 50 feet long and extended all the way to the pool in the back yard. Limited access due to many other trees and much landscaping. Had to attack it from the neighbor's driveway on the left, her driveway on the right, and finally had to cut a path for the Nifty Lift right up to the front door of the house. Lots of rigging involved.

We also took down this dead Cherry tree leaning over the roof. 24" DBH and about 50 feet tall.

2.5 inches from the gutter. That five foot diameter trunk does not budge even a millimeter. I told her she had five years before it touches.
