Went thru my Atlas nitrile glove.

I self lowered this 98% dead maple, so far. Almost brushed out. Don't trust the new guy for this critical job next to the primaries, behind the tree.

Might finish with the crane. Have to crane out the bottom of it anyway. Was going to use my friend's 40' kboom. Might get a taller stick crane instead.

Any place I want to look for sign of figured wood, I can pull the bark off.

Luckily, the wood is light.

It's a hop skip and jump from my friend's mill.

Nice. Lots of stuff in the drop zone.

Here's a bid pic. End weight and "safety prune"..... I forgot to ask them what that meant.

One of the last big Eucs in Noe Valley, new money comes in and old trees go out. This thing is a liability sandwhich but it's sad to see people cut these down cause they're scared. So I might take the job.

Before and after ficifolia trims.
The guy wanted removals and the city denied so he told me to butcher them...he wanted more light for a garden.....so why butcher the trees down to 10" heading cuts?..and I said no. But I'll trim them as if they were mine and stay with in the city statutes.

Basically lifted and thinned a bit with some end weight....

22 ton crane on Monday to take it down. Kboom dump for taking to my milller.

When I dropped oak logs recently, he reminded me of cherry boards I had there, since a while ago.

Asphalt, raised garden beds with in ground irrigation on one side, primaries and road on the other.

Not a chance I could flop anything but a 6' butt log. My alternate plan to craning the bottom would be turning beautiful, figured maple logs into firewood or a Brazilian cutting boards.
I can see some birdseye, and some quilted figure, I believe. Spalting in the butt, at least.

If I didn't have the primaries there, I could pull the last top/log sideways, and pretty statically hang it upright.

I could probably top and hang some logs without issue. Probably. Therefore the crane.

Better millable logs in longer sections. 8'+ for his Hud-son bandsaw mill to manipulate it most effectively. I hope to make money on the lumber.

Weaseled all over this terrible cottonwood, and seriously, these boots were wonderful on hooks. Light and super supportive. Drayers from Wesspur.

A rental lift would make fast work of that. Any in your area. When it's accessible, it's almost to easy, unless the lift is parked in the rigging zone. Must have been adventure to climb and rig. Ground help?

Little platform lift would have been nice. It wasn't terribly difficult though, just some tricky positioning.

Nope Ray, they're just normal soft toe.

Really solid shank though.

Here's 2 of the 9 trees I cut Thursday. Video is sped up 25x.
