The stump shot from the other day.
Spent almost 12 hrs in three live oaks removing deadwood with not one picture except the lead that wanted to keep my throwbags
glad to have to get there anyway. Also cool was this hawk being harassed by a cardinal!
Off to do estimates till dark.

Had an interesting job today. Took out 8 - 20 year old Shubert choke cherry with stumps for a local senior citizens housing unit. They no longer wanted to deal with the purple berries being tracked into their building.
Last pic you'll notice a lady in white approaching from behind the bus shelter dragging a branch from her house next door.
She wanted me to chip that limb but when she realized I was removing the choke cherries she started screaming and crying that I must stop cutting those trees because they make her neighborhood beautiful with their purple leaves. She even called city hall telling them to stop me but that fell on deaf ears and the city owns the seniors home.
Boring job otherwise but it did pay me $1,325.00 for 5 hours of work by myself

Not a perfect stump but it worked. Was a bit agitated while felling the spar. 3 PM and found out another crew came up short with their bucket and I had to lend a hand. I used their truck to prove a point and had the two trees topped out by 6:30.

Could be worse, a few years back my brother in Calgary had snow like this in July.

CFB Shilo special orders snow and cold weather for summer courses.
Had a fun thing happen today.
We had yet another hazard tree to top out. This one a large beech with one leader broken out.
Had to take the remaining leader off and since it was next to a public road, with lots of traffic, we decided to set a line in it and winch it off facing away from the road.
I was climbing and had the SENA on so I could talk to Richard who was manning the winch. There was so much undergrowth between us that we had no visual contact.
So everything is set and I start to make the face cut.
Nothing happens, the saw isn't even tearing up the bark.
I try again, same result????
Turns out Richard had put the chain on backwards
Guess who'll be buying the traditional friday morning pastries tomorrow!
Once he got it switched around, everything went according to plan, but he'll have a hard time living this one down.
