Happens in our Shagbark Cedar all the time. Alligator juniper, Ponderosa, you name it. Never seen it in a Cottonwood, so it must have some class. Most mistletoe round here is "dwarf" mistletoe

People have been living in this place for many centuries. Every winter, the earth squeezes out different pieces of iron from the depths. In the spring, these artifacts come to the surface. This spring they found horseshoes, a ring, a powerful iron wedge and something else. I also thought it was some kind of word.) In fact, these are just objects from the past.

Still pretty cool. I like finding old stuff like that. No monetary value. Just the joy of marveling over some old /thing/, and wondering what it's life was like.

Does anyone else find it amazing that @Maximalist can find so many no-clean up jobs?!? I do one of those every couple years

I don't know about the wedge. That thing's huge. My best guess would be quarrying stone, but outside of treework, I don't really know who traditionally used wedges.

Definitely, this is a wedge for mining stone. Everything is clear with horseshoes, the ring is an element of a wooden wheel, but I have no versions about the rest.

Finally some stump grinding. Work has been dead for me, a lot of start ups. Seems this stump no one wanted to do.

It’s a wheel to aid turning the Hobbs better.
They eschewed @flushcut s mod and got an engineer to make this up.
He said it works great.

Here is the pick I had rigged before I fell.
Cut it with a 28" bar from the roof.
Then I took the ball up for the last two after setting the crane up on the neighbors side. Dead tops were over her side of the fence.

Then Frank just cut them from the ground

I had three stumps on that property, 3 hours, large ash was mostly rotten.
