@davidwyby I understand that there may be specific circumstances where skilled and safety oriented people may stay on the stump. Not trying to start a debate. It’s good to see your videos where you retreat by the book.

I was in the woods, $#€+ flying everywhere and the tree may hang and slide back on the stump (despite my stump shot) or roll.
August has a lot more exp and was in a field with only one (live) tree.

Removal of a large spready Birch today.
Most of the tree required lowering due to cables property and plants the home owner didn’t want damaged.
Forgot to take a before picture. Came down at lunch and it looked like this. Most of the tricky rigging was already done.

Yes it was a nice one.
There were a few pockets of rot on the stems and the tree had quite a few areas where wire had girdled the stem.
I found some chicken fencing wire near the top, just draped over a lateral limb.. Apparently, in the past it had been used as some form of antennae.
The customer wanted it out and I was asked to do it for one of the guys I climb for.

Pictures from today. Went down to Anan rental cabin to get a handle on the damage from a giant Sitka spruce that blew over on the roof. Damage is quite extensive but I think we can repair it since the walls are mostly intact.

That water does look inviting, particularly cuz I snowblowered a bunch of snow into the farm tub this morning when clearing the driveway so when I dunked later, all that slush felt curiously good. Not trying to hijack your post, just saying the AK water looks pretty fine.

Picked it up with the GRCS and the mini. Awesome line angles damn near perfect for the pick. HO was giddy watching the whole thing “it’s nice watching somebody who knows what the hell they are doing” was his comment.
