The Official Work Pictures Thread

Two and a half days of misery. Over 500’ of nature’s fence. I don’t need to see anymore Osage orange for a while. Still picking thorns out of every where. Went from snow covered to mud covered Monday

I bet it lasts a while, Fiona.

"F" thorny trees!

Had a couple hours between school drop-off, and Early Release school pick up to chunk down some logs, and drop two spars, buck and move into a lot pile.

My friend is helping me a bit. She's used a mini-x and tractor a little, now getting a little mini-loader time (on turtle mode, which is fine by me, just takes time to learn, and not break things.

My friend Dan will take his logs to the mill, once prices rebound some. Right now, one main buyer isn't even buying.

Dan gas a small self-propelled lift. Tomorrow, I"ll chunk down the little one (decided not to rush today) and do a bit of canopy raising and hanger removal in an even bigger triple-leader fir over buildings (that is going to be on the chopping block, I can tell).

Dan's getting older and can't be out fixing his buildings' roofs, and contents within, and keeping up with cleaning up regular dropping bits and pieces.
His trees have grown a lot in 30 years. His younger wife might like there quite a long time, still. Planning for the future.

Couple personal trees from the past few days to experiment with some gear and remove the potential hazards. I enjoyed the view on top of the ash and the sugar maple reminded me to sharpen the spurs.

Schliesing Rich.

Had to tow the chipper through the woods, so used the Forst as the Schliesing would have been too heavy.

When it works the Forst is great...when it works.

Is that your place? Looks set up nice.
I don't miss working ash 90% gone here in my part of Wisco.

Thanks. Big work in progress. It used to be wooded and in the 70s, they cleared a few acres for the building lot. All the trees that were inside the forest are now at the edge and the have spent the last 50 years leaning towards the cleared area and catching up on growth. The previous owner liked a green weed-less lawn. Every load of wood chips turns into a planting area.

The largest one or two, one end then the other... Butt of the log, not dbh, approaching 40" I'd guess. I did those three with the 2511t, and a 28" bar on an MS 461. Mediums drug or carried. Mostly 16'10" mill logs.

More than my friend's 45 hp tractor could move because he has a root grapple that doesn't swivel.

Yes it is😎

There is about to be another piece of iron in my area. Talking to a competitor last night and he let me know his second spider lift is being delivered next month. A CMC 92HD is what I think he said. He already runs the 83HD. That will be fun to compete against. I also heard a rumor he has a treemek being built. I know he spent some time observing Montgomery Tree and he knew quite a bit about the build cost. His will be the second not only in the county but in the same city. Let the wars begin.
I’ve got my boss talked into a spider lift but the mek is out of the picture. It was considered even with one in the area, but now with two there is no way. I doubt our local can support two of these machines. Oh well. Let them battle each other. I just think I’m going to have a hard time bidding against those things. Good bye front yard removals🙄
