Back when my newfie Ursa was only a few months old, the trainer recommended that we lock the cat and the dog in the bathroom together and let the cat go to town on the dog for a while. We did this 3 or 4 times. As a result she learned to associate cats with getting her nose scratched. Now she will get up and leave the room if the cat comes through. It works even when we're not at home. But now I don't know what to do about the cat, who seems to take advantage of the dog's fear. If the 120 lb dog doesn't get up right away, the 8 lb cat will walk circles around her just to point out who is the boss and who is going to get bitch-slapped if she doesn't leave. The cat seems to enjoy being mean to the dog.

BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Here's our latest addition 'Jack' as best we can make out he is a Staffie Boxer cross. We rescued him so we can't be sure!

Working dogs need that drive. Can be a PITA around the house though. I need to take some pics of Bear. He's nearly 1 now & already about 70lbs!!! Big noisy softy though as I wanted :)

YES!

Pictures of Bear, please.

Apart from a Siberian husky/Alsatian mix, I can't think of a better mix than Bear.

If you ever get tired of him..................................................................................................................................................................................:)

Bear - he will be one in a couple of weeks. Big guy, soft with most but you would not want to be a cat or a stranger. Not behaviour I have taught him, purely natural

Train him well mate, lest ye face the consequences.

That I understand. We spend alot of time doing so. An example is his tolerance is my nephew pulling his ears harder than I would yesterday. He wagged his tail, then rolled on his back and showed complete submission. The same goes for most people. However I was pulled by the police last night, in the car & for the first time he showed genuine human aggression. Perhaps this is a scenario of my own creation? But the policeman was scared of dogs for sure & I was less than pleasant to him due to his mannor
