Thats what it looks like.

I got sick very early into the pandemic. They brought in some specialists to treat me.

There was no testing up here at the time.


I was way sicker the first time.


I guess in a way it makes sense. Especially since you were vaccinated and still got the bug.


The virus I was infected with and you were vaccinated against no longer exists.


Sorta why they dont just have one Flu Shot.

Should have had it earlier, but had to wait till 4 weeks after my last chemo, apparently chemo and vaccinations don't go well together.

The rotating image on the ad claimed it is a "Myth" that COVID-19 vaccines can alter your DNA and proclaimed it to be a "Fact" that they cannot.

The logic MDHHS uses to arrive at this conclusion is this: since the vaccines utilize mRNA and the mRNA never enters the cell nucleus where the DNA is located, therefore the mRNA cannot be incorporated into the DNA.

The first problem with this supposed debunking is that not all three of the currently available vaccines utilize mRNA. The Pfizer and Moderna shots do, but the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine does not.

And guess what the Janssen vaccine does with the genetic material that it utilizes?

It delivers it into the cell nucleus!

At least, that's what happens according to this New York Times article explaining how the vaccine works. The Times explains that the "vector" vaccine includes DNA encoding the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, in a genetically modified adenovirus. The adenovirus gains entry into the cells and, once inside, "travels to the nucleus, the chamber where the cell’s DNA is stored."

The DNA is then translated into mRNA, which exits the nucleus and causes the cells to produce the spike protein of the coronavirus, eliciting an immune response.

So, by the very logic used by MDHHS to arrive at the conclusion that COVID-19 vaccines cannot alter human DNA, we must conclude that the Janssen vaccine potentially can do so.

But what about the mRNA vaccines? Well, in this case, the logic used by MDHHS is a non sequitur fallacy.

It is does not logically follow from the premise that mRNA does not enter the cell nucleus that therefore it cannot be incorporated into host DNA.

In fact, there is a known biological mechanism by which foreign RNA can and does incorporate into host DNA. It is known as "reverse transcription". In brief, the RNA is reverse transcribed into DNA, which can then enter the cell nucleus and become incorporated into the host DNA.

Note that this is the process used in the "PCR" tests being used to diagnose COVID-19. These RT-qPCR tests reverse transcribe SARS-CoV-2 (the coronavirus that causes COVID-19) RNA into DNA for amplification.

It is also the process by which RNA viruses can incorporate their genetic information into host DNA. In fact, a significant proportion of our own DNA is viral in origin.

Moreover, there are studies providing evidence that SARS-CoV-2, which is an RNA virus, can incorporate its genetic information into human DNA through this process of reverse transcription. See here and here.

Thus, it is theoretically possible that mRNA from the vaccines could similarly be incorporated through reverse transcription into host DNA.

The uncertainty about this is expressed in an article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, JAMA, on September 3, 2020. As noted by the author:​
"Experts say several factors argue for mRNA vaccines' safety. For one, mRNA can't cause an infection. It also doesn't enter the cell's nucleus, so the chance of its integration into human DNA is believed to be very low."​
Note that this statement acknowledges that just because the mRNA doesn't enter the cell nucleus does not necessarily mean that it can't integrate into human DNA. The chance of this occurring might be "believed" to be very low by the scientific community, but it is a non-zero risk.

It is disturbing that MDHHS is employing a logical fallacy to proclaim a theoretical possibility as a "MYTH" rather than properly educating the public that, while theoretically possible, the risk is "believed to be very low".

Note that that is also a faith-based assertion as to my knowledge no studies have ever been done to test the hypothesis.

In sum, the "fact checkers" have a point that the claim that the vaccines do alter human DNA is unsupported. We don't know that they do. But their counterclaim that we know that the do not is also false.​
