Haha thx jay your avatars is cool ive not had the privilege of crane work yet. Do you just cut the piece straight off while the operator lifts up the piece so your saw dosnt get pinched?

Basically yes, but it can get a bit more technical than that, type of cuts, how you attach to what you are lifting, etc. We have a lot of discussion about crane work here, an ongoing topic. You can get some real good advice here on that aspect of tree work, if you have the chance to do it. Lots of people are pleased to assist.
