So get them stitched! It looks like you get your foot wedged in tight places, then you've gotta yank em out. NOT good for any boot.

You don't even need to get them stitched. Any self respecting cobbler can put a new sole on those boots with glue. The stitching is mainly for looks as the threads rapidly wear because of the tread pattern on the soles.

You may have gotten a pair of boots that had not been glued properly.

!9 months. I think that has more to do with it than quality control. There is a lot of hard wear on that sole. Also the type of leather preservative one uses has a direct affect on stitching and leather. Funny my Whites never did that:P

I got a pair of whites too. I don't care for them, I like my boots to have a lining of some sort. Not as comfortable in my opinion.

I don't have a clue how many miles these boots have on them (alot) but the soles are not falling off them. I did have to screw the heel back on them but thats an easy fix that I have had to do to a few pairs now. Its just nailed/glued on.

I just priced out a pair of Wescos on their site, $603. That doesn't include any of the custom costs, and I don't even know if I would have gotten what I wanted. Also, WTF is a tricounie for?

Used on corked boots for extra grip and tearing the edge of the sole off when they come off.

the wescos are all custom fit so breakin is a breeze really.. I get a new pair and wear them as "going out" boots before I wear them to work.. breaks them in the easy way.

When I started the thread , I had the money ... they didn't have the stock . Then they restocked , I didn't have the dough. Well I have ordered up and they are in stock . No more "Cruel Shoes" for me ...

Coulda started a new Boots thread but this oldie but goodie is, yeah :dude:

I'm a huge fan of good boots. I've been aware of Hoffman boots as handmade, high quality logger boots but just today I was on their site and see they supply a wide variety of excellent boots by other makers as well.

Life isn't long enough to use all the boots I'd like to try. :dude:

This thread is mint!
Rereading it and seeing Butch type caulks reminded me of the “caulk sucker” incident. Lol

Not seeing much I like in their catalog, and their combat boots are spendy. My avg price for boots over my lifetime is probably $12/pr :^D I can't wear heels, and I'm not a fan of synthetics. I've zeroed in on combat boots as being perfect. 10" height, low heel. I'm flexible with the various options, but anything has to be mil spec(much prefer non steel toe though). I think I've had every valid option at this point, and they're all fine.

I might have a different opinion if I needed calks, but I'd want combat boots with spikes on the bottom, or as close as possible.

@ 12$/pr and you're happy with them, you definitely don't need Hoffmans.

Tom, those boots look 🔥 but I think we need some pics of that shop. You might have posted them before, I'm not sure, but yeah, even the insulation is impressive
