No, not the uppers. The uppers last might near forever.

Not in the woods, they don't.
They get scuffed by branches, nicked by saws and stepped on by caulks.
Logging is way harder on boots than climbing, my linemans boots last 3 times as long as my caulks.

I own a pair of custom made Wesco's, and they're the best boots I've ever put on - even compared to Whites, which I've also owned. They're expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for.

I've worn out two pair of Redwings at my last job, one year. Had to have them due to the metatarsal (sp?) gaurd. The first pair was cheap, made my feet and legs hurt three months later. I finally spent the money and got a beter pair. A lot more comfortable, but they don't seem to wear any better. I've got Rocy's and Bates boot five years old in beter shape than these boots, and they spent time with the saws in the woods, the Redwings saw metal shavings and concrete. Should have shredded the soles, but the uppers are falling apart? Hmmmmmmm, $275 Redwings, $125 Bates or Rocky's?

Loving the Asolo Fugitives. I'm in my second pair since about three years ago, and will be buying a third when these run out!

Whites are made with a particularly shaped toe box. Not that comfortable for me.
Wescos work great for me, but because 90 % of the time I am on concrete, those heavy soles with the high heels just don't cut it.

I have been wearing the Danner rain forest boots. Light, good leather, and a flat heel

Take the time to weatherproof your boots. They weigh a metric ton when they're wet & take ages to dry out.
Somebody told me not to use bear grease on my boots 'cause it will rot the stitches ? Zat true ?
Camp dry for me... but I wear REI hikers or Merrill.

My only bicker about wescos is the stitching rotting away. I take good enough care of the leather but the stitching on the soles usually gives out on my boots after 18-24 months. The pair I have now is at 19 months and the stitching on the soles is failing. I can halfass fix it and get some more time out of them. Maybe the kevlar would last longer.

mine spend alot of time getting wet/dry/wet/dry/wet/dry... Not the entire boot. Morning dew is most of it I would bet.

I use Obenaufs LP, I get twice the life out of the leather using it than I did when I used snoseal.

Boots get cleaned and "greased" every sunday.

how about Hoffman's?

like Bailey's sells? i was thinking of getting a pair.

I pulled out a pair of Osolos that I bought last year and quit wearing when they got too uncomfortable. A lump had formed inside each boot in the toe area. I couldn't figure out what they were, but I pulled out the inside liner and attacked the lumps with a razor knife. The lumps were full of sand. Once I dumped them out and stuck the liner back in they were fine. I still won't buy another pair though. My Montrails hold up great.
