Gary, please dont confuse your examples of actual martial arts with special displays of fun and hypocrisy.

I wanted to send my son to go live at the Shaolin temple. Those kids are phenomenal. My wife wasn't keen on the idea of seeing him only once a year when they allowed visitation.

Ok, at 3:25 in this video, how much is power and how much is pancake effect?

If you dropped a bowling ball on that stack, the result would be the same.

90% pancake IMO.

My friend Jeff attained his 7th degree black belt in Karate today at age 65.

He's quite a guy actually. while in high school on a date he crashed & rolled a car. He was badly hurt and his girlfriend became a quadriplegic. He married her and has taken care of her since.

When not volunteering delivering food to underprivileged school children and old folks or taking care of Mary, he instructs for a local karate assn. sticks to a rather rigorous weight training program, and writes inspirational things for folks to read. He's very involved in several local charities.

He also still surfs, snowboards, skis, & swims weather permitting. Occasionally he installs a stereo (his occupation).

Jeff is one of the most giving, active, and inspirational people I've ever met.

side note: his Dad is 95 and a hoot to be around too. I used to do all the families tree work and my wife was (& still is) a part time aide for Jeff's wife)

Really nice to see an older, high ranked American karate sensei who is actually in fighting shape.

The link works.

Even if a guy is outta shape, with those high credentials, he'd most likely be completely fine in a street fight, no?

Probably not.
He'd have an idea about what to do, and some muscle memory to help with that.
But Run completely out of steam after 30 seconds.
