Ice Storm in KY

It'll get me out of Assachusetts for a couple weeks.

Thanks for the lead, Erik. I talked with Don and he's going to call me tomorrow once he gets confirmation on the contract. If it works out we may be working together for a couple weeks.

Ahh!! I wish I had a camera. Plenty of great photo opportunities these past few days! Today was another fun day of cutting, dragging, and stacking!! The ice is melting and falling off though, so tomorrow we may begin climbing and going for hangers and others hazards. Should be fun!

Theresa, the worse piece of equipment you can bring is a chipper.

Its tough to compete for tree work when the other guy is dragging it into the street for free and letting the debris haulers get it.

any more storm chasers headiing that way? Wagnaw....

I'd like to go, but I'm having second thought about spending the fuel driving all the way out there. I've thought about going to the Clarksville, TN area because I have in-laws I can stay with, and they say it's really bad around them too.

here's a couple...I'm on a borrowed laptop on the generator

Looks like I might possibly be going to KY as well. Will get confirmation tomorrow, but I expect to be working with Erik on a FEMA crew for a couple weeks.

And Erik's contact just happens to have worked right here in my neighborhood, we know many of the same people and he was mentioning landmarks within a mile of my house.

I have no idea yet, RD. I'll get a destination address when I get confirmation tomorrow, then I'll look it up on mapquest.

Awesome!! Give me a ring anytime

859-321-4498. Now this ice is clearing up, we'll be looking for some climbers or bucket guys (are you bringing your bucket, or flying down)

765 miles according to Mapquest, about 15 hours drive time for me.

Looks like an easy run from there to Ashville for the get together on the 21st though, if we're going to be there that long.

Yup. When push comes to shove, living simpler and making bank is better than sitting still.

I hope you guys do well on your journey.8)

Thanks Paul, I'll buy some cold weather gear when I get up that way.

I just got confirmation from Erik's guy, looks like we're meeting in Kentucky Tuesday evening. I'll be leaving here Monday evening since I prefer driving long distances at night (less traffic). Not great money but better than slowly starving here at home.

Today I spent the day getting the truck ready. Oil changed, greased, tire pressure (verrrry slow leak in RF tire), saws, extra fuel, spare bars and chains, extra files, etc.
