Glad you're alright, Chris ... but, where's a 'piss-my-pants-laughing' smiley when you need one??? :pmpl:

I never even saw it coming. One minute I'm giving the bag and mean throw, the next I'm staring it the sky with my hardhat on sideways.

hahaha...great story, glad you didn't bust any teeth or eyes. A video would have been priceless!!

I always try to remember to check to be sure the throw line isn't caught in my fingers before I release the pouch loop...I figure that would at least break a finger, if not snatch part of it off.

Greg, what types of jobs do you do mostly, where you don't have use for a BS? I read you did some training up Tahoe-way recently. Who was that for?

I guess I have just used a thrown line for so many years, that I just don't have that much use for a BS...Unless I'm rec. climbing and usually someone always has one there, so I never even pack it with me....

SouthSound, I'm sorry I don't know your name. My jobs range from just about everything under the sun, large and small, conifirs to deciduous. if there isn't a branch to latch onto within the hundred foot range, then i might think about a BS......

The Training is For the California Conservation CORPS. I put on 4 to 6- 40hr courses each year for them through another Co I'm co owner of called STARRS.

OWW!

Yup, got it round the correct way, it didn't take much looking at to figure it out...then checked the instructions, ok good to go.

We went to Ag Fest yesterday, HUGE Agricultural trade show...finally got some Stihl chain at a good price (for Oz) I was at the Oregon stand first and questioned if they were the ones who had the full chisel 3/8 low profile chain and they hadn't heard of it...and then the guy tried to tell me that the 020/200 didn't have enough torque to fully utilize it...hahahaha, I was polite and didn't laugh in his face.
The Stihl chap knew straight away about it, and what was also nice they didn't stock the full safety chain as no-one wants it...that's when you know you live in the country in wood cutting, tree felling territory!

They didn't have it at the show unfortunately, but good to know it is around!
I think the Oregon guy got pissed that a small female with a funny accent showed him up a bit...hehe.

I misunderstood you. I thought you managed to get the Stihl full chisel.

Greg, I'm Sean. We very vaguely met at Zipfest. I was with Amy and Rupert (often aka Rufus) the Black.

Accent,
Here they think I'm either American, Canadian, Irish, or English...
In the States they think I'm Australian, Canadian, Irish or English...
In England they think I'm American, Canadian, or just a damn colonial...

Greg don't need a bigshot cause he can hit 90' with regularity. After I met first worked with Greg several years ago, I quit using a Bigshot. He taught me that all one had to do was practice. A guy should be able to nail 70' all day and hit in the 90's.

Right you are.
I used to be pretty good at throwing, then I got a bigshot.
Can't throw for shit now.

Practice is where it is at.

Nothing beats making a killer throw and bouncing off some wood 2 inches from the target crotch. That warrants a strong "damnit" every time.
