I use a 5 gallon bucket to store my throwline and the Big Shot head, makes it very convenient to keep the line organized on the job.

Throwline in buckets, rigging line in milk crates...

When rodents get a hankering for something, they can really go to town on it. The gray plastic handle on a seldom used Husky became their fancy, and they gnawed the heck out of it before I noticed.

I have never seen or heard of vermin chewing synthetic ropes in my neck of the woods...

Had a box of misc rope in the shed, squirrel nested up pretty good...

Chewed the Icetail and the Ocean but had no interest in the Bluemoon??

I've had a big shot for probably 7 years and I think I Have used it once to shoot some Walnuts. Should probably sell the damn thing. It sat around for so long I had to replace the rubbers so it wouldn't blow up on me if I decided to use it one day.

Greg, what types of jobs do you do mostly, where you don't have use for a BS? I read you did some training up Tahoe-way recently. Who was that for?

Fi, make sure you keep the horns of the BS fork on the opposite side of the pole from where you are, in case of something like Marc-Antoine mentioned...also will keep your fingers holding the pole out of the path of the pouch/bag on release.

This is basic operating protocol for the BS, but some folks never got the memo, I guess :).

It is also in the manual you get with the Bigshot, I believe.

Yup, and 90% of the tree guys around here who own one will use it the wrong way. I used to try to correct them but gave up after being told I was wrong every single time. :(

When I got my BS, before my first try, I was guessing that the aim's accuracy would be better with the wrong way, but I too imagined the pouch and the throw-bag making their nearly supersonic start just along my chin and my nose.:O
So no thanks.
Maybe I could loose some hits (sure I did actually !) but I put the slings and all the mess the right way, away from me, behind the pole.

I don't recall, but Sherrill or Wesspur had a photo in their catalog with someone doing it "wrong". I'll have to look back, but I think it was last year.

Well, ill raise my hand and look like a fool. I've always used my bigshot wrong, and didn't know better until this thread. Yes, I got blasted in the face with a 14 ounce bag a few years ago. It hurt. I didn't admit this story until now but here it is. I laid myself out cold 2 months ago with a throwbag. Cradled it to throw up the tree, using both hands, spread legs, throwing the cradle up from between my legs. Gave it a hell of a throw. Throw line tangled on my saddle, as I was wearing it at that moment. The bag shot right into my face. Laid me out ice cold on the parking lot I was standing on. Scared my ground man.

I was out ice cold fellas. I held off on telling that story as I was a little embarrassed. Right in the forehead. It was at a Salvation Army retreat I donate work at. No more wearing my saddle and throwing a bag. No siree.
