Are these logs worth anything?

I remove quite a few chinese pistachio trees. I have made firewood from them in the past. If they are worth saving what do I need to do to them? I just did a bid on a white oak that is probably 28" DBH and maybe 15' long but it has a curve to it. If I get the job I'll get a picture of it to see if it is WWB worthy.

Chinese Pistache...Not Pistachio....(Pistacia Chinensis) Pistachio is a nut you eat. These have not nuts.

Stefansen, the best color comes when the tree is dead. Next time you cut one down green, take a look at the lower trunk section sometime. As far as curring it, I'm not expert you might ask Jay on that one. I just store mine in dark cool place until ready.

PNW ? I dont know if there any there either . I'm from Cali...lol

 I think you mean if I'm worthy.

I'm not familiar with how that wood tends to dry, but generally speaking, if you keep it in log form for a year or so, off the ground and protected from the sun and rain...keep the bugs from getting interested by removing the bark, you likely can have some good material milled from it. Keeping it in log form and losing the initial moisture that way, tends to make for more stable material when you do slab it and continue to dry.. Some wood will go nuts, no matter what you do...my disclaimer.

Oh yeah, paint the ends too.

I thought they were the same Greg, I might be wrong. These don't have edible nuts but are called pistachio because they are in the same genus. Are you saying that Pistacia chinensis is the tree you have in the PNW? If so, these are the same. I promise to call them Pistache, though, if it makes you feel better.

Rumination, Hell I dont care what you call it....lol... Just clarifying because we have both here and there not the same....:D.

PNW I'm sure has some up there way scattered through out. Here in Cali. it's the same scattered, although in the town of Chico there are a abundance of them. Beatiful fall colors. Chico is unique that it has around three hundred different species of trees.
